Bologna

A shaft of window light illuminates one of the 500 steps leading up to the top of the Asinelli leaning tower named after the familiy which credited with its construction between 1109 and 1119.  It is thought that the Asinelli Tower initially had a height of 70 metres and was raised later to the current 97.2 metres.
